Austin Kelley Named Director of Center for Basketball Development

Montverde, FL (June 11, 2025) – Montverde Academy is proud to announce the appointment of Austin Kelley as its Director of the Center for Basketball Development (CBD). Kelley brings a wealth of experience in basketball operations, coaching, athlete development and event management to one of the premier prep basketball programs in the nation.

Kelley arrives at Montverde Academy from Niagara University where he has served since 2020 as Assistant Coach and Director of Men's Basketball Operations. In that dual role, he managed the team budget, coordinated all team travel and logistics, oversaw academic planning and student-athlete success initiatives, and led the scheduling of future games and events. His leadership extended to fundraising, alumni relations, and overall program development.

Prior to his time at Niagara, Kelley spent two years at George Washington University as the Director of Men's Basketball Operations, where he supervised team equipment logistics, facilitated communication between athletics staff and faculty, and served as a liaison for student-athletes and their families.

Kelley also brings valuable experience from the grassroots level, having served as Elite Camp Director for Hoop Group from 2016 to 2018. While there, he managed over 30 basketball events annually and recruited more than 10,000 campers and teams. He also led a team of over 20 staff members and implemented a comprehensive social media strategy to grow the organization's national presence.

In addition to his administrative and coaching background, Kelley is also a seasoned educator. He spent three years as a Physical Education and Health Teacher at Saint Bernadette School in Silver Spring, Maryland, where he developed student-centered curriculum and fostered a culture of personal growth and community involvement.

"I am incredibly honored and exited to begin a new chapter at Montverde Academy," Kelley said. "Their basketball program has set the standard for excellence both on and off the court. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to its continued success."

Kelley earned a Master of Business Administration from Niagara in 2025, a Master of Science in Health Education from SUNY Cortland in 2012 and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Saint Bonaventure University in 2011.

Kelley, who begins his new role in July, will oversee the operations of the CBD along with its approximate 100 student-athletes and program coaches.
