Boys cross country star Will Moss was the individual winner, finishing first out of 82 runners to win the Tiger Invitational at Tohopakaliga High School in Kissimmee on Saturday morning, while the girls' team, behind top 10 finishes by Lyla McMillen and Federica Perez, finished fourth of nine schools at the event.
Moss finished in a personal best time of 15:39.91 to claim the top spot. His win was not only a personal best, but he set a new course record as well, breaking the previous course record of 15:46.34 which had been set at the same meet last year.
On the girls' side, Lyla McMillen was the first Eagle to cross the finish line and was eighth overall of 120 runners in a time of 21:00.48 minutes. Meanwhile, Federica Perez was right behind her, ninth overall, in 21:06.32 minutes. Amaris Munya was third for MVA and 24th overall in 23:00.20, while Zara Liles-Henry was fourth for MVA and 41st in 24:46.27. Samantha Schulze rounded out the top five scorers for the Eagles by finishing 44th in 24:55.01 minutes.
Also competing for Montverde Academy girls' team was Nikita Verma who finished 51st overall in 25:52.98 and Isabella Kissler who finished 61st overall in 27:40.25
The cross country teams return to the course on Saturday, October 4, for the Green Monster Invitational in nearby Clermont.
