Cielo Moya Earns Second Student-Athlete of the Week Honor

Montverde, Fla. (September 29, 2026) – Girls swimming standout Cielo Moya has been named the Montverde Academy Student-Athlete of the Week for the second time this season following another dominant performance in the pool.

Moya earned four victories while helping the Eagles secure a second-place team finish at the ultra competitive Florida Swim Pool Association (FSPA) Invitational on Saturday in Ocala.

The tenth grader swept both of her individual events, winning the 50-yard freestyle in 23.46 seconds and the 100-yard butterfly in 55.41 seconds.

Moya also played a key role in two first-place relay performances. She helped the Eagles win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:44.03 and the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:34.94, completing a perfect four-win meet against some of the top competition in the state.

This marks Moya's second Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the 2026 season. She previously received the award following a perfect opening week in which she won all eight races she entered across the Eagles' first two meets.

At the Winter Park Quad Meet on September 9, Moya won the 50-yard freestyle in 23.63 seconds and the 100-yard butterfly in 57.49 seconds. She also contributed to victories in the 200-yard medley relay, which finished in 1:46.54, and the 200-yard freestyle relay, which won in 1:38.56. Moya followed those performances with four more victories at Montverde Academy's home quad meet against Lake Minneola, Rockledge and Windermere Prep. Her performance was highlighted by a pool-record time of 26.87 seconds in the 50-meter freestyle. She also won the 100-meter butterfly in 1:03.59 and helped the Eagles capture the 200-meter medley relay in 2:01.73 and the 200-meter freestyle relay in a pool-record time of 1:50.36.

A native of Peru who resides in Orlando, Moya says her favorite class is AP Precalculus, and she credits MVA's supportive community and highly competitive athletic programs among the things she enjoys most about the Academy.

Following graduation, Moya hopes to attend a Division I college and compete for its swimming program. She is interested in pursuing a career in architecture or mechanical engineering.

**The Montverde Academy Student-Athlete of the Week award is sponsored by the 2026-27 Montverde Academy Booster Club.
