Montverde, Fla. (September 15, 2026) – Montverde Academy girls swimming standout Cielo Moya has been named the Student-Athlete of the Week following a perfect season opening week in the pool.
Moya won all eight races in which she competed, contributing four victories at the Winter Park Quad Meet against Winter Park, The Geneva School and Boone High School on September 9 and four more during Saturday's home quad meet against Lake Minneola, Rockledge and Windermere Prep.
At Winter Park, Moya captured the 50-yard freestyle in 23.63 seconds and the 100-yard butterfly in 57.49 seconds. She also helped the Eagles win both of her relay events, including the 200-yard medley relay in 1:46.54 and the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:38.56.
The sophomore delivered another four-win performance on Saturday, highlighted by a pool-record time of 26.87 seconds in the 50-meter freestyle, while also winning the 100-meter butterfly in 1:03.59. and contributed to two more relay victories, including the 200-meter medley relay in 2:01.73 and the 200-meter freestyle relay in pool record time 1:50.36.
A native of Peru, Moya is a 10th-grade student who resides in Orlando. Her favorite class at Montverde Academy is AP Precalculus and says she loves MVA because of its supportive community and highly competitive athletic programs.
Following graduation, Moya hopes to attend a Division I college and compete for its swimming program. She is interested in pursuing a future career in architecture or mechanical engineering.
Moya and the rest of the 2026 girls swim team return to the pool this Friday for a dual meet at home against Timber Creek High School at 5:00 p.m.
