Montverde Academy boys and girls basketball opened its highly anticipated 2026–27 season with their annual HoopsMania event at The Nest, packing the bleachers with friends, family and enthusiasts.

Alongside student performances and autograph signing, the main evening draw was the high-octane scrimmage that showcased the team's trademark energy on the court. Once the lights came on, it was their game.

Boys basketball head coach Steve Turner even emphasized the program's collective effort in securing another national title.

"We can't do anything here without us being all in," Turner stated with unflinching confidence. This framework will become the benchmark for exceptional skill and development throughout the season.

The exhibition gameplay immediately put that benchmark to the test, as two teams kept moving at breakneck speed. Driven by sharp offensive footwork and explosive energy, a collaborative dunking effort from Isaiah Hamilton and Jaylen highlighted the strategic, high-flying gameplay that will define MVA's extended success.

Junior Trace Lopez also anchored his team with a series of dunks that flooded The Nest with excitement. The players saw nothing but net, and they will continue to soar as the season progresses. While there remain plenty more tricks up everyone's sleeves, Montverde's signature purple and gold hasn't been brighter.

The event also introduced a cohort of athletes from all over the world, such as Las Vegas, Nevada and Ontario, Canada. Although MVA remains global, the initial excitement of the season was nested directly on the home court. The players themselves are actively striving to maintain the program's elite athletic standards. In an interview with sophomore Chudier Yak, he noted that his primary objective for the upcoming season was to "get better every day." With that, spirits remain higher than ever as the team steps into the season with unfiltered determination. The path to excellence starts with them.
