Montverde Academy softball opened the 2026 season, shutting out Calvary Christian 4–0 on the road Tuesday afternoon in Clearwater.
After two scoreless innings, Montverde Academy broke through in the top of the third to take the lead, then added runs in the fourth and fifth to build a 3–0 advantage. The Eagles capped the afternoon with an insurance run in the top of the seventh, putting a bow on a complete team performance.
The offense was led by Addie Poe, who delivered the big swing of the day, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Cali Flowers added a double and scored a run, while Andrea Gomez chipped in with a strong 2-for-3 effort at the plate.
Nevaeh Williams dominated in the circle, with another jaw-dropping performance to anchor the season-opening win. She fired a complete-game shutout, allowing just one hit while striking out 13 batters as MVA improve to 1-0.
Montverde Academy will look to keep the momentum rolling when the Eagles return to action on Wednesday with a road matchup at Horizon High School, with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
