Montverde Academy boys basketball extended its winning streak and reached another milestone on Sunday afternoon with a 61-49 victory  Christ School in Arden, North Carolina.

The win marks the 20th of the season for the Eagles, who improve to 20-5 overall. Montverde Academy has now won 12 consecutive games and 20 of its last 22 contests, continuing its strong push toward the postseason.

In Nike EYBL Scholastic play, MVA moves to 10-3.

The host Greenies controlled much of the first half, taking a 17-12 lead after the opening quarter. But Montverde Academy flipped the momentum in a dominant second quarter. The Eagles outscored Christ School 25-6 in the period, turning a deficit into a commanding 37-23 halftime advantage.

From there, MVA never looked back.

Montverde Academy led throughout the entire second half and built its advantage to as many as 20 points before closing out the 12-point win.

Four Eagles finished in double figures, led by Joe Philon III, who totaled 18 points, five rebounds, five steals, and two blocked shots.

Derek Daniels recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while also protecting the rim with six blocked shots.

Javion Tyndale added a double-double of his own with 12 points and 10 assists, orchestrating the offense throughout the afternoon.

Dhani Miller narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with 11 points, nine rebounds, and two steals.

Montverde Academy will close out the regular season at home on Friday, February 27, when it hosts Tennessee Collegiate Academy in a Nike EYBL Scholastic matchup. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
