Montverde Academy softball opened play in the 2026 Montverde Academy Invitational Softball Tournament (MAIST) in dominant fashion Thursday, defeating Fort Myers 10-0 in six innings on campus.
MVA's offense was powered by a huge performance from Addie Poe, who went 3-for-4 at the plate and finished a single shy of hitting for the cycle. Poe recorded a double, triple, and home run while driving in seven runs to lead the Eagles' offensive explosion.
Colby Reish reached base in all of her plate appearances, going 2-for-2 and scoring four runs.
Missy Odom provided a memorable moment late in the game, entering as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the fifth inning and launching a home run to center field on the very first pitch she saw.
MVA was just as sharp in the circle. Nevaeh Williams pitched five shutout innings, allowing only two hits while striking out six batters. Odom closed out the game with a dominant inning in relief, striking out three.
With the win, Montverde Academy improves to 3-0 on the season.
The Eagles will return to action Friday in a winner's bracket matchup against Winter Springs High School at 5:30 p.m. as MAIST tournament play continues on campus.
