Fresh off an impressive 12-point victory over No. 1 nationally ranked Spire Academy on Friday, the Montverde Academy boys basketball team continued its strong weekend with an 84-55 win over Boyd-Buchanan on Saturday afternoon in day two of the Dr. Pepper Classic in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The victory improves Montverde Academy to 16-5 on the season and capped a dominant, wire-to-wire performance by the Eagles on day two of the event.
Montverde Academy was highly efficient offensively, shooting an outstanding 58 percent from the floor (31-for-53) while showcasing balanced scoring throughout the lineup. Six Eagles finished in double figures, led by Dhani Miller and Sebastien Ndour who each scored 15 points. Miller added seven assists, while Ndour contributed five rebounds.
Javion Tyndale delivered a strong all-around performance with 13 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Derek Daniels was flawless from the field, scoring 12 points on a perfect 6-for-6 shooting while pulling down seven rebounds. Nikos Koulisianis and Malachi Booker each added 11 points in the win.
The Eagles seized control early and never looked back. Montverde Academy raced out to a 34-17 lead by the end of the first quarter and carried a commanding 55-24 advantage into halftime, setting the tone for the remainder of the contest.
Montverde Academy dominated in multiple facets of the game, holding a 46-14 edge in points in the paint, a 33-20 advantage on the glass, and a 13-4 margin in points off turnovers.
Montverde Academy will return to action on Saturday, February 14, when the Eagles face Brewster Academy in a Nike EYBL Scholastic matchup on day one of The St. James Event in Springfield, Virginia. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
