The Montverde Academy baseball team opened its 2026 season with a 5-3 victory over Apopka High School on Monday night at the Eustis Tournament.
Montverde Academy collected timely hits throughout the contest and received a strong pitching performance to secure the season-opening win.
Carlos Feliciano led the Eagles offensively, going 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and a run batted in. Max Irving added a pair of hits as well, finishing 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Tank Chavous also contributed, going 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
On the mound, Joel Ortiz earned the win after tossing 4.0 innings, allowing just one run on four hits. Sid Goeke provided solid pitching as well, going 3.0 innings and giving up two runs (one earned) on two hits while striking out seven batters.
The Eagles return to action on Wednesday when they face Lake Minneola at the Eustis Tournament. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
