The Montverde Academy softball team dropped a 7-2 decision at home to Inspiration Academy on Wednesday evening.
The Eagles struck first in the bottom of the opening inning, as Addie Poe launched a solo home run to give MVA a 1-0 lead. The blast was her team-leading sixth of the season and tied the program record for most career home runs by an MVA softball player.
MVAÂ held that lead into the sixth inning before Inspiration Academy pushed across two runs to take a 2-1 advantage. The Eagles responded in the bottom half of the inning, as Cali Flowers delivered an RBI single down the left field line to score Colby Reish, who reached base with a single, tying the game at 2-2.
Inspiration Academy broke things open in the top of the seventh, plating five runs to pull away for the win.
Missy Odom took the loss in the circle, while tossing a complete game. She allowed seven runs, just two earned, on 10 hits while striking out 10.
MVAÂ now stands at 8-2 on the season and will return to action Friday with a home game against Eustis High School at 6:00 p.m.
