The Montverde Academy baseball team delivered a dominant performance on Friday afternoon, defeating Windermere Prep 18-1 on the road in a game shortened to four innings by the run rule.
MVA wasted no time getting on the board, erupting for five runs in the top of the first inning to take early control. Windermere Prep answered with its only run in the bottom half of the inning, but it would be all Eagles from there.
MVA added another run in the second inning before breaking the game wide open with seven runs in the third. The Eagles continued to pour it on in the fourth, plating five more runs to extend the lead to 18-1 and secure the run rule victory.
The win improves Montverde Academy to 12-6 overall on the season.
The Eagles' offense was firing on all cylinders, highlighted by three players recording three hits apiece. Carlos Feliciano went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles, two runs scored, and four runs batted in. Miguel Ramos finished 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBIs, while Max Irving also went 3-for-3, scoring three runs with two doubles and one RBI.
Brody Welborn added a strong performance, going 2-for-2 with a run scored and two RBIs. Tank Chavous made his lone at-bat count, blasting a home run and driving in three runs.
On the mound, Sid Goecke earned the win after tossing two innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out three. Mauricio Zaa and Alex Bello each contributed a scoreless inning in relief to close out the victory.
