Softball Poised for Postseason Run Starting with District Championship

Montverde Academy softball has secured the top spot heading into the postseason, earning the No. 1 seed for the 2026 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 2A District 7 Tournament. With the top seed comes a first-round bye, allowing the Eagles to open postseason play at home in the semifinal round on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.

MVA will face the winner of Monday's play-in game between No. 4 seed Windermere Prep and No. 5 seed Lake Highland Prep. With a victory there, the Eagles advance to the district championship game on Thursday, April 30 at 6:00 p.m., also at home, where they would play the winner of the opposite side of the bracket featuring No. 2 seed The First Academy and No. 3 seed Cornerstone Charter Academy.

The Eagles enter the tournament with a 17-4 overall record following a demanding regular season schedule against some of the top competition in the state of Florida. MVA currently holds the No. 16 overall ranking in Florida and sits at No. 2 among all FHSAA Class 2A programs.

Offensively, MVA has produced a .269 team batting average, highlighted by standout performances from several key contributors. Missy Odom has led the way, batting an impressive .500 during the regular season while adding four home runs and 14 RBIs. Addie Poe has also delivered at the plate, posting a .364 batting average along with team highs in home runs (nine), runs scored (21), and RBIs (32).

The Eagles have been dominant throughout the season in the pitching circle, combining for a stellar 0.74 team earned run average. Odom has been exceptional, recording a 0.56 ERA with 87 strikeouts across 50.1 innings while compiling a 6-1 record. Nevaeh Williams has anchored the pitching staff with an 11-3 record, a 0.87 ERA, and 136 strikeouts in 89 innings pitched.

MVA enters the postseason riding an impressive streak of 12 consecutive district championships and will look to capture its 13th straight title. Beyond districts, the Eagles have their sights set on a larger goal—bringing home a second state championship in three years.
