The Montverde Academy softball team delivered a dominant performance Tuesday evening, defeating Lake Highland Prep 15-0 in three innings in the semifinal round of the 2026 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 2A District 7 Championship at the MVA Softball Complex.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 18-4 overall and advance to the district championship game for the 13th consecutive year, as they pursue a 13th straight district title.
MVA wasted no time at the plate, erupting for seven runs in the bottom of the first inning and adding seven more in the second to take a commanding 14-0 lead. The Eagles secured the run-rule victory in the third, plating the final run needed to end the game.
Missy Odom led the offensive surge, going 3-for-3 with two doubles, two runs scored, and four RBIs. Elena Friedman added a double while scoring twice, Andrea Gomez launched a two-run home run, and Audrey Vivino contributed a triple and two RBIs.
In the circle, Odom was nearly flawless, striking out all eight batters she faced. She threw 27 pitches, 25 for strikes, in a dominant outing. Elin Gunkel recorded the final out in relief, striking out one batter after issuing a walk.
MVA will host the district championship game on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. and will face the winner of The First Academy and Cornerstone Charter Academy.
