Over the weekend, the Montverde Academy powerlifting team won four gold medals, two silver medals, and was named the Best Overall Team at USA Powerlifting Florida State High School Championships.

“I'm extremely proud of my entire group, we are preparing for two different sports currently so that provides a unique challenge,” said Coach Steven Cerenzio. “Winning this competition as a team as well as the individual success was extremely reassuring that all our hard work is paying off and we will be prepared to compete for the upcoming season!”

Coach Cerenzio's team are simultaneously prepping for next year's varsity weighlifting season, which looks to be another success for this group of dedicated lifters.

“Being able to stay focused on the strength demands of powerlifting while learning the new technical work of the clean and jerk has been a lot,” said Cerenzio.
