The Montverde Academy boys' cross country team finished second of seven teams, while the girls finished third of five in the Zak Lukas Invitational at Hernando High School on Thursday evening.
On the boys' side, the Eagles scored 48 points, and were led by Riley Novack who finished second overall of 76 runners over the five kilometers (15:51), while Colton Cardwell was second for MVA and fifth overall (16:42). Will Moss was the third Eagles' finisher and was eleventh overall (17:34), while Cooper Shaban was fourth for the Eagles and thirteenth overall (17:52). Anthony Picciano was fifth and eighteenth respectively (18:26).
On the girls' side, Montverde Academy earned 79 points, and was led by Carly McNatt who was third overall of 67 competitors (18:49), while Natalie Nesmith was the second Eagle to finish and fourteenth overall (22:20). Isabella Kissler was third for MVA and seventeenth overall (23:17), while Lyla McMillen finished 28th overall and fourth for the Eagles (24:24). Stellie Bobilin rounded out the MVA top five while finishing 30th (24:57).
The cross country teams are back in action on Saturday, September 10th when they host the Eagle Invitational on the MVA campus. The boys' race is scheduled for 8:00 am, followed by the girls' race at 8:35 am.
