Montverde, Fla. (October 31, 2023)—Montverde Academy Department of Athletics has announced that boys' cross country team member Will Moss has been named the Montverde Academy Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 29.
Moss put on his best performance of the season in the boys' cross country team's most recent meet, the Citrus League Championship.
Moss was the Eagles' top finisher and was third overall of 70 runners, helping lead the team to its first ever Citrus League Championship. He scorched the five kilometers in a personal best time of 17:11 to help the Eagles to a six-point win over second place Lake Highland Prep.
A ninth grader, Moss has continued to improve as the season has gone on. He has raced under nineteen minutes in five out of six races this year.
A native of Boca Raton, Moss contributes to the residents of his town by teaching kids how to surf. He admits that among his favorite things at MVA is how being a student and being an athlete is properly balanced. Moss's interests besides running includes photography. His career ambition is to work in psychology.
Moss and the rest of the boys' cross country team returns to action on Thursday, November 2 for the FHSAA Class 2A District 4 championship at Wickham Park in Melbourne.
