The Montverde Academy boys and girls swim teams turned in dominant performances, combining for twenty-one wins of a combined twenty-two races in finishing first place respectively at the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 1A District Championships on Tuesday morning at the National Training Center in Clermont.
The boys team swept the meet, winning all 11 events, while the girls claimed victory in 10 of the 11 races. The district titles mark the seventh straight championship for the boys and the seventh in the last nine years for the girls, continuing MVA's strong tradition of excellence in the pool.
On the boys side, Arthur Romero Rabello led the way with victories in the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.40) and 500-yard freestyle (4:45.69). Paolo de Fabrique won the 200-yard individual medley (1:56.27) and 100-yard backstroke (53.82), while Heitor Tinoco won the 50-yard freestyle (20.88), Jayden Davis claimed the 100-yard butterfly (53.02), Jayden Chan took the 100-yard freestyle (46.39), and Cobi Wu won the 100-yard breaststroke (57.01).
The boys also dominated all three relays, winning the 200-yard medley relay (1:37.08), 200-yard freestyle relay (1:24.96), and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:10.27).
For the girls, standout performances came from Alejandra Ordoñez, who won the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.37) and 100-yard freestyle (52.50), and Maria Castro, who captured the 200-yard individual medley (2:08.27) and 500-yard freestyle (4:57.42). Kayra Tati won the 50-yard freestyle (24.55), Maria Fernandez took the 100-yard butterfly (56.70), and Stella Belmore earned first place in the 100-yard backstroke (57.52).
The girls also swept all three relay events, winning the 200-yard medley relay (1:47.84), 200-yard freestyle relay (1:37.76), and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:33.93).
Next up, the Eagles will compete at the FHSAA Regional Championships at Indian River State College in Fort Pierce on Tuesday, October 28.
