The Montverde Academy girls cross country team finished second of six teams, while two members of the boys team had top-10 finishes at the Green Monster Invitational at East Ridge High School in Clermont on Saturday morning.
On the girls' side, Lyla McMillen was the first Eagle to cross the finish line, earning a podium spot by finishing 3rd overall of 71 runners with a time of 20:30.35. Federica Perez was the second MVA runner, placing seventh overall in 21:25.16. Alafair Scelfo was third on the Eagles and eighth for MVA in 21:31.07. Amaris Munya was fourth overall for the Eagles and 20th overall in the race in 23:47.81  and Zara Liles-Henry was 24th overall to round out the top five in 24:22.63.
Also competing for the MVA girls were Isabella Kissler (32nd, 26:16.03), Alon Scelfo (27th, 25:33.65), and Nikita Verma (33rd, 26:29.79).Â
For the boys' team, Montverde Academy had two runners compete, and both finished in the top 10. Will Moss was the first Eagle to finish, taking 2nd place overall in a time of 16:28.35. Salvatore Scelfo was the second MVA runner, finishing 7th overall in 18:06.01.Â
The cross country teams return to the course on Saturday, October 18Â for their next meet, the Lake Minneola Last Chance Invitational in Lake Minneola at 8:00 am.
