Montverde, Fla. (October 7, 2025) –Montverde Academy has named girls volleyball player Natalia Baquerizo as its Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 5, 2025.

Baquerizo delivered an outstanding pair of performances last week as the Eagles volleyball team arguably had its toughest week of the season having hosted two powerhouse opponents.

She opened the week with nine kills and 14 digs in a hard-fought 3-0 loss to nationally and state-ranked Orangewood Christian on Tuesday.

She followed that up with a dominant showing in the team's 3-0 win over Lake Highland Prep, the defending state champion and top regionally ranked program. Baquerizo tallied 13 kills, seven digs and three service aces, helping the Eagles secure their first win over Lake Highland Prep since 2018, snapping an eight-match losing streak against the Central Florida rival.

So far this season, Baquerizo has led the team in kills with 156, while amassing 126 digs and 13 total blocks.

A dedicated student-athlete, she is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and appreciates the diversity at Montverde Academy.

The Eagles are currently 13-5 overall this season and return to the court for their final week of regular season play, starting with a match at Trinity Prep on Tuesday at 6:30 pm, followed by a match at South Lake on Thursday at 7:00 pm, the 2025 regular season finale.
