Montverde, Fla. (November 18, 2025) – Montverde Academy is proud to announce that eleventh grader Will Moss has been named the school's Student-Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. Moss, a standout member of the boys cross country team, captured the FHSAA Regional Championship at Holloway Park in Lakeland last Thursday, cementing his status as one of the premier cross country runners in the central Florida high schools.
Moss crossed the finish line in 15:59.96, finishing more than 36 seconds ahead of the runner-up to claim his first regional title. With the victory, he earned an automatic berth into Saturday's state championship meet at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee.
His latest achievement is the latest of a list that continues to pile. Before winning the regional championship, he won the district championship for the second year in a row on November 6, while setting a new course record at the Sandhill Scout Reservation in a time of 15:56.67, becoming the first high school cross country runner to complete the course in under sixteen minutes.
Earlier this year, Moss finished first place overall at the Tiger Invitational hosted by Tohopekaliga High School on September 20, where he set a new course record there in a winning time of 15:39.91.
With the state meet on the horizon, Moss is aiming to cement his remarkable eleventh grade season. His accomplishments this season highlight the commitment and talent that define Montverde Academy's student-athletes.
