MONTVERDE, Fla. — Montverde Academy is proud to announce that boys cross country runner Will Moss has been named the Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 23, 2025. Moss earned the honor following his outstanding performance at the 2025 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 2A State Championship this past weekend, where he captured the individual state title in dominant fashion.
Moss crossed the finish line in 15:35.3, securing the state championship and becoming just the second boys cross country runner in Montverde Academy history to win an individual state title. He is the first Eagle to achieve the feat since Richard Simolari '93 accomplished it in 1992—making Moss's run not only historic, but a defining moment for the program.
In addition to his strong athletic performance, Moss continues to represent Montverde Academy with integrity, sportsmanship, and leadership—qualities that embody the spirit of the Student-Athlete of the Week award.
This is the third time this season Moss has earned the top weekly honor. He earned the award on September 23 after winning the Tiger Invitational at Tohopekaliga High School on September 20 in course record time 15:39.91, and he earned it last week after winning the regional championship at Holloway Park in Lakeland.
The eleventh grade star also won the award once during the Fall 2024 season as a tenth grade student and the Fall 2023 season when he was in ninth grade.
Montverde Academy congratulates Will Moss on this outstanding accomplishment and proudly recognizes him as the Student-Athlete of the Week.
