The Montverde Academy girls weightlifting team delivered one of its strongest collective performances of the season on Thursday, finishing 10th out of 21 teams in the Traditional division and an impressive 7th out of 21 in the Olympic division at the highly competitive Buffalo Invitational hosted by The Villages. The Eagles' depth and balance across multiple weight classes helped them stand out in a field dominated by large programs.

Flowers Leads the Way With Olympic Podium Finish

Sophomore Cali Flowers delivered Montverde Academy's strongest outing of the meet, earning an Olympic 3rd-place finish (265 total) and following that with 5th place in the Traditional 199-lb class (280 total). 

Friedman, Reish, and Joseph Add Important Points

MVA had other top-10 performances from three other lifters:

• Elena Friedman – Traditional 154-lb class: 275 total (6th place)

• Emily Reish – Traditional 169-lb class: 260 total (7th place)

• Madison Casaburi – Traditional 183-lb class: 250 total (8th place)

• Gabby Joseph – Traditional Unlimited class: 290 total (8th place)

In the Olympic division, the Eagles were once again powered by the same core group:

• Elena Friedman – Olympic 154-lb class: 250 total (6th place)

• Colby Reish – Olympic 183-lb class: 250 total (5th place)

• Gabby Joseph – Olympic Unlimited class: 275 total (5th place)

MVA returns to action on Wednesday December 10 for a home meet against Faith Christian for senior night starting at 3:00 pm.
