Montverde, Fla. (November 4, 2025) – Montverde Academy girls swim team member Stella Belmore has been named the Student-Athlete of the Week after helping lead the Eagles to victory at the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Regional Championship last Tuesday at Indian River College in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Belmore delivered outstanding performances, earning an individual win and helping the team to two relay victories. She captured the 100-yard backstroke with a personal-best and National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) All-American qualifying time of 55.80 seconds. She also contributed to two first-place relay victories, including one in the 200-yard medley relay (1:46.34) and the other in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:32.39).
A member of the Eagles' swim program since the 2023 season as a seventh grader, Belmore has steadily emerged as one of MVA's top competitors. Now in ninth grade, she is already a two-time district champion in the 100-yard backstroke and captured her first regional title in the event this year after finishing as the runner-up in 2024.
Outside of the pool, Belmore is an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and she says she loves Montverde Academy because of the diversity of the school and the excellent teachers it employes
Belmore and her teammates will now turn their attention to the FHSAA State Championship, which will take place Saturday, November 8, in Ocala, Florida. Her time of 55.80 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke makes her the top qualifier for the event this weekend.
