The Montverde Academy girls weightlifting team picked up two hard-fought wins on Wednesday afternoon at Trinity Prep, edging the Saints 43–38 in the traditional (bench press and clean & jerk) competition and 42–39 in the Olympic (snatch and clean & jerk) format.
The Eagles earned key points across multiple weight classes to secure the sweep. Gabby Joseph led the way in the unlimited division, winning both the Olympic and traditional events with totals of 270 and 285 pounds, respectively. Cali Flowers added another double victory at 199 pounds, lifting 260 in Olympic and 265 in traditional competition.
Madison Casaburi (183) and Colby Reish (169) also claimed wins in both formats, while Brooke Williams swept the 154-pound division.
Other strong performances included Isabella Parra, who swept in both disciplines at 139 pounds, and Angely Acevedo, who earned one point in Olympic and three points in the traditional.
The Eagles will return to action next Wednesday, November 12 as they compete at Foundation Academy in Winter Garden at 3:30 pm.
