Montverde, FL (August 26, 2025) – Montverde Academy is proud to announce that freshman golfer Michael Frasure has been named its first Student-Athlete of the Week for the 2025-26 school year.
Frasure played a pivotal role in helping the Eagles boys golf team to a perfect 2-0 start to the season last week. On August 19, he shot a credible 39 (+3) at Legends Golf Course in Clermont, leading MVA to a 152-172 victory over East Ridge High School. Just one day later, Frasure made school history at Bella Collina, firing a 30 (-6)—the lowest round on record for the Montverde Academy boys golf program—in a narrow 138-140 win over The First Academy.
A member of the team since sixth grade, Frasure has been a consistent force for the Eagles. He was named team MVP as a sixth grader and qualified for the regional championship that same season. Now in ninth grade, he continues to showcase his talent and leadership as the boys golf program looks to contend for the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) state championship later this fall.
"Michael's accomplishments on the course speak for themselves," said head boys golf coach, Neil Barnhill. "He is a tremendous representative of our golf program and sets the tone for what we hope will be a special season."
The Student-Athlete of the Week honor recognizes Montverde Academy athletes who excel in competition while demonstrating sportsmanship, dedication, and commitment to their teams.
Frasure and the rest of the Eagles return to the course on Tuesday afternoon against Windermere Prep at Bella Collina at 4:00 pm.
