Friday, September 26, saw Montverde Academy welcome Lake Minneola and South Lake, as both the boys' and girls' teams posted outstanding results.
The Montverde Academy girls' team achieved a 175–74 victory over South Lake and a 155–112 win against Lake Minneola. On the boys' side, the Eagles secured a 222–37 victory over South Lake and a 160–126 triumph over Lake Minneola.
On the girls' side, the Eagles were spearheaded by Maria Castro, who won the 200 Individual Medley in a pool-record time of 2:21.04, with Layla Busby taking second (2:33.44). Stella Belmore won the 100 backstrokes (1:06.64), while Mariana Bustamante took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.97). Alejandra Ordonez claimed the 100 freestyle (59.46), and Maria Fernandez set a pool record in the 100 butterfly (1:03.55). Kayra Tati added a sprint win in the 50 freestyle (27.25).
In the 200 Medley Relay, Belmore, Bustamante, Busby, and Castro earned the win in pool-record time of 2:00.85. In the 200 Freestyle Relay, Ordonez, Bustamante, Tati, and Fernandez won in pool-record time of 1:50.78. In the 400 Freestyle Relay, Fernandez, Belmore, Ordonez, and Castro won in pool-record time of 3:58.07.
On the boys' side, Zac Holmes won the 100 freestyle in a pool-record 52.05 and later added a win in the 100 backstrokes (1:00.20). Jayden Chan took the 50 freestyle (23.65), while Cobi Wu claimed the 100 breaststrokes (1:06.65). Paolo de Fabrique took the 200 IM (2:14.49).
In the 200 Medley Relay, de Fabrique, Wu, Jayden Davis, and Heitor Tinoco won in pool-record time of 1:48.16. In the 200 Freestyle Relay, Holmes, Chan, Lucas Paez, and Tinoco won in 1:36.33. In the 400 Freestyle Relay, Paez, de Fabrique, Holmes, and Chan won in pool-record time of 3:35.46.
The swim teams return to the pool next weekend for the Florida Swim Pool Association (FSPA) meet in Ocala.
