Montverde, Fla. (February 18, 2026) – Montverde Academy is proud to recognize girls soccer standout Veronica Solano as this week's Student-Athlete of the Week after championship-clinching performances on the pitch last week
Solano made her mark in a big way during the Florida High School Athletic Association regional championship which includes scoring a goal in MVA's 4-0 victory over Lake Highland Prep in the regional championship game on Friday. Her impact extended well beyond the scoresheet, as she played a pivotal role defensively throughout the regional rounds.
Last Monday, Solano helped anchor a dominant defensive effort in MVA's 2-0 semifinal round win over Calvary Christian, limiting the opposition to just one shot, before helping lockdown Lake Highland Prep's offense on Friday. That balance of attacking production and defensive reliability has defined her season and elevated the Eagles when it matters most.
On the year, Solano has totaled three goals and seven assists, showcasing her versatility and team-first approach. Her contributions have helped propel Montverde Academy to a 19-1-1 record, a No. 3 national ranking, and No. 1 ranking among prep schools, along with the district and regional championships. The program is now just two wins away from capturing its fifth state championship.
Off the field, Solano shines just as brightly. She is a member of the Hispanic Club on campus, lists chemistry as her favorite class, and says what she enjoys most about Montverde Academy are the top-tier facilities and the diverse cultures represented throughout campus. On the international stage, she has also represented the Costa Rica Women's National Team at both the U-15 and U-17 levels.
Solano and her teammates return to action on Thursday at 1:00 p.m., facing Pensacola Catholic in the state semifinal at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex. Should the Eagles win there, the state championship game will be 10:00 am on Saturday against the winner between North Broward Prep and Cardinal Gibbons.
