Montverde, Fla. (February 3, 2026) – Montverde Academy girls track & field standout Dasia Reed has been named the Student-Athlete of the Week following another exceptional performance on the track this past weekend.
Reed earned the honor after winning the 400-meter dash at the Legends of Alachua County Invitational at the Alachua County Sports & Event Center on January 31. She captured first place with a time of 54.56, continuing her strong start to the 2026 indoor season.
Reed also played a key role in a historic relay performance. Teaming with Adriana Rodriguez, Nakira Hudson, and Arima Turner, Reed helped Montverde Academy win the 4 x 200 relay in a time of 1:36.30, setting a new venue record at the Alachua County Sports & Event Center for a 4 x 200 meter girls high school relay race.
This week's recognition is familiar territory for Reed, who earned Student-Athlete of the Week honors three times last year, underscoring her consistency and impact as one of Montverde Academy's premier student-athletes.
Since arriving at Montverde Academy as a ninth grader, Reed has established herself as one of the most accomplished sprinters in program history. Competing across indoor and outdoor seasons, she has recorded elite results in the 100, 200, and 400 meter sprints, while also contributing to championship-level relay teams.
Reed is a multiple-time FHSAA state champion, highlighted by:
- State champion in the 100 meters in 2024 and 200 meters in 2025
- Multiple regional and district championships
- Victories at premier outdoor meets such as the Pepsi Florida Relays and FSU Relays as well as indoor meets such as the Legends of Alachua County Invitational, the Sunshine Showcase and the Florida High School Indoor Championship.
As the 2026 season continues, Reed remains a cornerstone of Montverde Academy's girls track & field program and a leader both on and off the track.
Reed and her indoor track & field teammates return to the track this weekend for the Florida High School Indoor Championship back at the Alachua County Sports & Event Center in Gainesville.
