Montverde Academy's baseball season came to a close on Saturday evening as the Eagles fell 4-1 to The First Academy in Game 2 of the best-of-three semifinal round of the 2026 FHSAA Class 2A District 7 Tournament.
With the loss, MVAÂ was swept in the series and finishes the season with a 17-10 overall record.
The First Academy, batting as the visiting team, took control early with a three-run third inning to build a 3-0 advantage. The Royals added an insurance run in the fifth to extend their lead to 4-0.
The Eagles broke through in the bottom of the sixth inning when a balk by the First Academy pitcher allowed Rainer Garcia to score from third, cutting the deficit to 4-1. However, MVA was unable to generate further offense, finishing with two hits on the night.
Alex Bello and Carlos Feliciano recorded one hit each in the loss.
Bello was charged with the loss on the mound, pitching the first 3.0 innings and allowing three runs on four hits. Mauricio Zaa provided solid relief, tossing the final 4.0 innings while surrendering one run on three hits.
Despite the season-ending defeat, MVA reached its deepest point in the FHSAA postseason since the 2023 campaign, marking another step forward for the program.
