Michelle Smith made her seasonal debut and was the Eagles' top finisher while finishing seventh overall to help the Montverde Academy girls' cross country team to a second place finish of 33 teams at the Florida State University Pre-State Invitational in Tallahassee on Saturday morning.
Smith was seventh of 292 total runners at the event and finished the course in 20:42. Behind Smith was Lyla McMillen who was 19th overall in 21:14. Angelica Wolfe was the third finisher for MVA and 22nd overall in 21:18. Alafair Scelfo was fourth for MVA and 24th overall in 21:25, while D'Asia Duncan round out the scoring five by finishing 117th overall in 23:35.
Also competing for the Eagles was Julia Carillo who was 245th overall in 26:24, followed by Stellie Bobilin who finished 249th overall in 26:28 and Izzy McMillen who was 287th overall in 31:47.
The Eagles next race is the HOKA Flrunners.com Invitational at Holloway Park in Lakeland on Saturday, October 7.
