The Montverde Academy boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Florida High School Athletic Association (FSHAA) Regional Championship with the girls placing third of 14 teams and qualifying for the FSHAA state championship, while the boys placed ninth of 16 teams.
On the girls' side, Alafair Scelfo led the way for the Eagles placing 7th overall of 104 runners with a time of 21:10.67
Lexi Fraser finished second for MVA and 8th overall with a time of 21:12.82
Lyla McMillen finished third and 20th respectively with a time of 22:11.58.
Federica Perez finished fourth for the Eagles and 26th in the race with a time of 22:47.23.
Alon Scelfo rounded out the top 5 for MVA and placed 43rd overall with a time of 24:00.32.
Other competitors for the Eagles were Zara Liles-Henry and Angelica Wolfe. Liles-Henry placed 98th overall with a time of 34:40.69 and Wolfe finished 99th overall with a time of 34:42.35.
In the boys' race, Will Moss led the way for MVA placing 7th overall out of 117 runners with a time of 17:19.73. His place qualified him to compete at the state championship as an indivudual, along with Lucas Coan who also qualified, while being the second fastest Eagle and finishing 21st overall with a time of 18:07.20
Jackson Balls finished third for MVA and 48th overall with a time of 19:03.78.
Ayden Henley was fourth for the Eagles and 85th overall with a time of 20:42.54.
Laven Parker rounded out the top five scorers for the Eagles and finished 86th overall with a time of 20:45.67.
Also competing for MVA were Emilio Del Dago and Joseph Bobilin. Del Dago was 104th overall with a time of 22:32.70, and Joseph Bobillin placed 116th overall with a time of 26:57.35
The girls return to action November 16th for the FSHAA State Championship in Tallahassee, Florida, while Moss and Coan will compete as individuals.
