The Montverde Academy girls weightlifting team delivered several standout individual performances Wednesday in a competitive dual meet against Windermere Prep at The Nest. Overall the Eagles lost by two close scores: 40-39 in Olympic and 44-35 in Traditional.
Montverde Academy athletes did claim victories in multiple weight classes across both Olympic lifting (snatch + clean & jerk) and Traditional lifting (bench press + clean & jerk).
Montverde Academy dominated the heavier divisions, beginning at 154 pounds where Isabella Parra and Brooke Williams tied for first place in Olympic lifting. Williams also earned the Traditional lifting victory in the class.
In the 169-pound division, Nicole Sanchez swept both the Olympic and Traditional titles, followed by similar performances from Colby Reish at 183 pounds and Cali Flowers at 199 pounds, as each Eagle claimed first place in both lifting formats.
Gabby Joseph earned first place in both Olympic and Traditional lifting.
At 101 pounds, Sanvhi Gandhi captured first place in Olympic.
The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday, January 21 for the FHSAA District Championship at Foundation Academy in Winter Garden at 12:30 pm.
