On October 26, the Montverde Academy girls cross country team won the 2A District 8 Championships with six student-athletes finishing in the top 13 for the Lady Eagles.
The girls cross country team has now earned their second straight district championships since their big win back in 2017.
"The girls had to work really hard to pull this one out," said Head Coach Lori Treweek. "I am proud of the consistent effort they have shown in every meet this season and in their practices."
Lily Henne lead the Lady Eagles with a course record time of 18:33 followed by Kendyl Cardwell (19:05) who took second place. Ryleigh Sperry, Brianna Hiers, and Zarrah Barbaza rounded out the top seven putting up major points for the Lady Eagles.
According to Treweek, Henne and Cardwell give the team a strong foundation for the rest of the MVA athletes to follow. However, it is the depth of their three to 10 runners that really forces each individual to compete and perform. Ultimately, each team member plays a vital role that fuels the Lady Eagles to win.
