MVA WINS FRED E. ROZELLE SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD

August 19, 2021 (Montverde, FL) – Yesterday afternoon, Montverde Academy was announced as the Class 4A winner of the Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Award. This honor is awarded annually by the Florida High School Athletic Association to member schools that have promoted sportsmanship on and off the field in exemplary fashion over the course of the school year. 

This includes programs and activities implemented within the school and community to promote sportsmanship; the number and type of exceptional sportsmanship reports; and the source of the nomination. The award is granted to eight winners, one per each athletic class, alongside a runner-up chosen from each class.

"We are incredibly pleased to be recognized as the Class 4A Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Award Winner," said Montverde Academy Director of Athletic Operations Khrystal Phiri. "A few years ago we established sportsmanship as one of six core values of our athletic department and it is fantastic to see that our community feels we have demonstrated good sportsmanship across all of our sports."

The accolade is named in honor of FHSAA Commissionar Emeritus Fred E. Rozelle, and has been presented annually since 1991.

A cash prize of $2,500 and a plaque will be presented to the Academy in conjunction with this award.
